Default Gw population question.

After 6 month i want to start again the game. I wanted to buy a run from Beacon's Perch to Drok's because i need SS but all of the district were empty. I logon two more times today but i ended up with the same result. Visited a few towns but just a few people were online only in Kamadan were some more players. So what's the population these days? How much people are still plaing this game? Maybe i was online in the bad hours but i don't want to continue a game that is already deserted.

Guildwars may have more accounts and be growing in the number of people who own the gam,e but since the announcement of GW2...FOREVER AGO, the game has begun to detreriorate.

There are probably still a couple hundred thousand that play the game, Most of them in US districts.

Main poipulations lie in the following towns

KAMADAN (aka spamadan!...also the reason for the need of an auction house)
Great temple of balthasar
Temple of Ages
Lions arch
Kaineng
Eye of the north
Beacons perch (only for the sake of Droks runs 50% dervish and 50% sin or warrior)
Ascalon
Shing jea monastery

The small towns will be all but empty, maybe 2 or 3 people every so often
Mission towns will house maybe 5 people, unles you're talking about the maguuma in prophecies, those are all completly empty save for 1 or 2 people because you can skip that entire part of gameplay.

And then look to fgind a bunch of people in whatever town Nicholas the traveler is closest to.

Nobody realy does anything but Farm trade and run, so anywhere runs are needed or there is a descent farm is where everyone is going to be, Nobody realy plays the rest of the game anymore.

Many are now playing DRAGON AGE and soon its expansion AWAKENING and then there's another coming after that. GW is old news now and only a handful are playing it anymore. I myself have been playing TORCHLIGHT as it's a Diablo 2 clone and a lot of fun. There's also TITAN QUEST out there that the GOLD pkg became very cheap like $7 and many are playing that now which is another D2 clone.

GW needs some new an improved goals to go for. New an improve more powerful weaponry and/or armor pieces. Give players something to go for that helps them to GROW or EVOLVE and they will return.

Beacon's Perch is a low level town. Few people roll new chars anymore, fewer still in Prophecies, fewer still actually play through the missions, and fewer still bother to even try to group up before they hit at least the port towns. If you want to play with people, you're going to have to get to the later content, and even then you'll probably need to be doing something other people haven't done 20 times already.

And don't expect anyone to be doing droks runs now, it's just not profitable to sit there waiting for a customer for an hour. Play the game, you'll get to SS within a week and that's if you're not rushing.

Note that it's the same for basically any lowbie area in any game that's been out a while. Go try to group up in WoW, or LotRO, in a low level area.

Many other MMOs solve this problem by balancing areas to be soloable, while needing groups and raids and such only for high end content.

The incentive to joining guilds in WoW for example is that you then have people willing to speedrush you through the lowbie content (that you COULD solo if you wanted to) to get to the higher tier stuff much quicker.

Believe me, I played WoW for three months, my roomates got me into it before I quit, and I was easily able to solo a Druid (treeform/moonkin FTW lol) and a couple other chars including Rogue and Warlock to lvl 80. Had I grouped with a guild it could have gone much quicker.

GW could have had the same successful structure, balancing the sub-20 content for solo play, and then the 20+ content for groups. Instead, EVERYWHERE in the game you usually need a full group unless using a solo farming build, and this hurts the game immensely, especially now when people are tired of it.

Yes it is, but you can only replay the game so many times before you just continue farming your gold. I joined up in an RP guild that brought life back to it for me.

(ill suggest finding an ACTIVE and friendly guild if you want to play the game, it would be your best bet)

You have to remember that since it's release 5 years ago, and the beta testing long before that, as well as the fact that were dealing with a storyline based game, people not playing older parts of the game or just not play in general, is going to happen. If anytime people do go back to play the old content, it's most likely for a new character or nostalgic purposes.

Don't worry about the population, or anyone who says the servers will be shut down, they will still be running long after you've fully exhausted the 'want' to play GW.

1. Since people are Free to use any district they want, people who want to play together and talk use America districts.

2. Depending on time of day, plays a big factor since GW community is global.

3. People tend to gravitate to Zaishen Quests for daily gameplay.

4. Running people through low end areas for 1k, is no longer worth standing around for, when you can run 4-5 people at a time for 10k each in dungeons.

5. It takes very little time for people to get to high end areas, so unless there is an influx of people buying Proph's your not going to have a demand for runners in places like Beacon's. Not when veterans can make a character in Factions or Nightfall and get Max armor in under an hour.

@QueenofDeath
The game is what you make it, yes it would be nice but, there are plenty of goals, kill things and kill more things, oh and there's the drunkard title.
It's a game with limited options, adding more armor won't change anything, it's the people you play with that make the game fun.

@ Kaleban
GW is structured as a team based game and therefore reflects that. I enjoy the game allows me to play the way I want to. If you want solo gameplay make a skill bar that does that for you or play WoW, since that game as been made and cloned to death.

Yes, but GW has Henchmen and Heroes, so, although the game content is designed for groups, you can "solo" it by using henchmen and/or heroes to fill the group, even at the lowest levels. In Normal Mode the game is easily playable using just Henchmen.

@OP - if you are looking for people to play with, keep checking the daily Zaishen Bounties and Quests. There's always lots of people looking for groups to do them.

This. When you H/H, you are essentially playing solo, but the team concept is still there. That's what GW is really all about.
